Infinite Jest

Infinite Zombies is a group blog about the group reading of David Foster Wallace’s Infinite Jest as part of the Infinite Summer project.  The contributors:

PETE DOANE is a writer who lives near Grand Rapids, Mich., where he was born one Festivus morning. He is currently working on a collection of short fiction.  This will be his first full reading of Infinite Jest.   (He also hopes to one day complete a full reading of Thomas Wolfe’s Look Homeward, Angel, which he has been attempting to read for almost a decade.)

DARYL L.L. HOUSTON has been something of a DFW fanatic since first discovering Infinite Jest a decade ago. He has worked as a pig farmer, roller coaster driver, and copy editor and now pulls levers and knobs as a computer programmer in Knoxville, Tenn.  This will be his third or fourth complete read of Infinite Jest.

JAMES MARTIN is a software trainer and English instructor in Mount Pleasant, S.C.  He blogs at wheatblog.com and is the admin for bassplaying.com.  This will be his first attempt at reading Infinite Jest.

SCOTT PORCH is an attorney and freelance writer in Savannah, Ga.  He co-writes the Apple Zombies tech blog and was formerly a reporter for the Memphis Commercial Appeal and Knoxville News-Sentinel.  This will be his first full reading of Infinite Jest (following a false start six years ago).

ANNA SWENSON is a youngish person currently attending the University of Arizona, where DFW did his graduate work.  Everyone on the faculty there is very proud of this most illustrious alumnus, so Anna is to see what all the noise is about and to write about it here.  This will be her first formal attempt to summit Infinite Jest.

HEATHER WARDELL is a writer in Ontario, Canada.  She is presently working on her fourth novel.  (Her first is available as a free download here.)  She also writes a personal blog.  This will be her first exposure to David Foster Wallace’s work.

KATHRYN ELAINE WEST is an English student at Kenyon College. After years of enjoying David Foster Wallace in small doses, this will be her first full read of Infinite Jest.
